Outcome

Select the Prometheus size cap from at least seven complete days of post-cleanup measurements.

Current state

Prometheus uses a provisional 90-day limit and 5 GB size cap after cardinality cleanup.

Work

  • Record active series and samples per second.
  • Record block and total directory growth.
  • Record effective oldest sample age and free space.
  • Review time above the 85 percent warning.
  • Choose and deploy the final cap.

Validation

  • Measurements cover at least seven complete days.
  • Rendered configuration validates.
  • Prometheus is recreated and reports the new running limit.
  • Dashboards and rules still return expected data.
